It appears there are no threads for this series, which I find somewhat strange, but oh well. I know several of you have played Golden Sun, or own it even, so we should probably all chat about it here, and stare wistfully off into the distance as we hope that Camelot finally decide to make another entry in the series (and it has to be on the DS, right?) By the way, I had an awesome idea for what could be possible if there were to be another game in the series. Anyone wanna hear?

Of course I want to hear. As for the GS games ... I never finished either. I got to the final boss on the first and pretty close on the second. That was yeeears ago, though. I bet I could finish them now. As for a new GS game, I'd love one. I mean, what else are Camelot working on at the moment? I've not heard about anything interesting coming out of them in a while.

I have the first one now. I've just got to the forest, where you have to reawaken Tret's kindly side. Hrmmmm hroom.
Well, I was thinking that it would be awesome if you could play as Saturos and Menardi. Of course, the only problem is that they're both Mars elementals, so it wouldn't be a particularly well-balanced team. Maybe, a bit like with FE8, you choose a path: you play as Saturos or you play as Menardi. Of course, the other remains with you in your party, but they just don't fight, or they only intervene occasionally, like the guest party members in FFIII. Maybe it could be so that you have Felix and Alex with you too (plus random Wind elemental guy/gal). I have no idea when in the storyline it could be set, as I haven't completed TLA, so I don't know how that ends, but I'm sure something could be figured out. Or maybe it could be set before they get hold of the elemental stones from Sol Sanctum. Meh. Thoughts?

I'm gonna go check that out, now, actually.

Or maybe it could be set when they're young'uns, growing up. It'll be interesting to see how they became the 'people' they are. And let's face it, it HAS to be about Saturos and Menardi. Agatio and Karst are just too ghey and fish-facey to bother making a whole game about.

That would be pretty cool. From what I remember, there was just about nothing revealed about their pasts, right? Then again, I barely remember any of the story, anyway.

I don't think much was really revealed in the first game. I'm not sure about the second one, as I never got to the end of it. Either way, I think there's room to fit another chapter of their lives into a whole game, and if it's set at some point while they're travelling about with Felix and Alex (such as before when they come to Sol Sanctum and take Jenna and Kraden with them), all they would then need would be some Wind elemental they met on their journey, to fill up the party. Then that character could conveniently die, leaving just the three of them (or four, counting both Saturos and Menardi), when they return to Vale.

I would hate playing as either Saturos or Menardi. Probably because I personally didn't like them all that much, and because everyone in the world seems to love them a freakishly odd amount.
I did like Felix a lot though, and Alex is pretty cool.

Everyone loves them?! I never got that impression. It seemed like everyone was scared of them. I just loved how gloriously arrogant they were ;D. Felix was kind cool, true, and Alex was really mysterious, but also admittedly cool. I loved how he always seemed so in control and gave very little away. He seemed to be the best characterised, to me. I've been playing Golden Sun all morning, and I'm just nearing the end of the Altin dungeon; the flooded mines beneath the town. I need to find another wind djinn, and fire djnn, so they're all balanced out. Doing good so far, though.
