They've become pretty popular now so I was wondering how people felt about them. I own quite a few myself and I can do them with a varying degree of awesomeness. Off the top of my head, I own GH2 and 3, Elite Beat Agents, Gitaroo Man and I've played Parapa the Rapper, Vib Ribbon, Rock Band and Audiosurf. One of the problems that Richard keeps mentioning to me is that whenever a new game comes out, he never pays attention because it doesn't have the music he likes. Does this tend to happen with other people too? I tend to feel that there's never enough J-pop but then again, that's kinda restricted to DDR right now.
Out of all the games listed, my favourite would have to be Gitaroo Man. The plot is that U-1 (Yuuichi), a ten-year old boy, has to save the planet Gitaroo by collecting the 8 gitaroos (I love that word) and preventing them from falling into the wrong hands. What I really love about it though is that all the music on it was designed specifically for the game but still manages to be really good music in its own right. That and you don't have to shell out a load of money for extra controllers just for the game, it's all played using the PS2 controller. It's a brilliant game, difficult as hell and yet, barely anyone played it.

I've not played that many of them, beyond DDR and variations on that (Stepmania and Flash Flash Revolution come to mind), but those are more dancing or whatever games.
I've played a bit of EBA (and the original game that was based on).
I'm looking forward, at Nintendo's press conference coming up soon, to hear more about Wii Music.

www.gamesradar.com/f/the-history-of-music-games/a-2008060393437857045Seems like they were thinking the same thing as me today, except I suspect they're much better informed. Okay, so apparently I've played more music games than I thought. I've also played ParaParaParadise, which is brilliant fun and better than DDR. And Rez. And Singstar but I don't care too much about that.

As Kat should know all too well, I've played Singstar (with varying degrees of awesomeness), some Guitar Hero (but my hand is too small to reach all the buttons) and EBA (which I beat Matteotti at!! Mwah hah!). I think that's all.

Varying degrees is certainly true.
Wii Music is another one of those games that I forgot existed, it was announced so long ago, it appears in loads of adverts (at least that one that they keep playing in Game On) but they've not actually released it.

I'm not a massive fan of these kinda games, but they're fun enough to play in short bursts. Surprised nobody mentioned Donkey Konga ... I found that game really fun. Also, I've played a few songs on GHIII, too. Other than that, I've not really bothered with music games mainly 'cause of the fact a lot of the music annoys me. Also, Wii Music ... how does it play, from the little we've heard? I forgot about it until now, like Kat, but I never remember learning how it played.

Donkey Konga is as hard as hell. The reason I forgot is because it's technically my brother's game. Some of the music on it is awful though and should not have been remixed/should not exist at all. I bruised my hands the first time I played that.
