So, my mum, brother and I went to see this at the cinema in town last night. It was pretty good. There was a loud disgruntled murmur from the crowd during the self-flagellation scene (which, admittedly, was pretty nasty). Now I really need to read the book.
So, anyone seen this yet, or planning on seeing it soon?

What do you mean by it not being your kind of thing? What is it about the story that doesn't appeal to you?

I've said this about 1 billion times because this subject is raised a lot, but I've only read the first 4 chapters of the book. I don't wanna watch the film until I've finished the book ... which could be a while.

Yes, I can understand that. I'm slightly upset that the book is now spoilt for me, as I know the basic gist of the plot having seen the film. I'll try and forget all about it, though.

Haha, Raika - after my own heart.
The book is far better. I bought the book a week before the film came out and I'd read it in 2 days. It encaptures you.
The people who had read the book expected that scene, and to be honest? Wasn't as graphic as it should've been. However, him pulling off the belt made me squirm a little bit.

It really doesn't sound at all my style. It's kind of like 1984 by Orwell, that made me want to go emo and kill myself, whilst screaming my face off at the book for points raised that I cannot stand.
I'm with Ram on this one, really. I might look into it some time though... =/

Lmfao. That's because there's a huge difference between 1984 and Da Vinchi Code.
1984 - Dull as f**k. Fantasic idea, just explained in a dull way. And in another language.
Da Vinchi Code - Lovely bit of death, mystery and conspiracy. ^^; Oooh, and code cracking. Goodshizzle. But then I like anything that questions everything we know. :]

They make me want to die.

Yeah but 1984 is nothing like the Da Vinchi Code. O.o; They in no way relate. One is about the government taking a hold and watching your every move and the other is about the conspiracy of the church. o.O; So I don't understand how you can generalise them together. ;

The topics they both are about really bother me. That's all. That's the only reason why I mentioned them together. Even if they're totally different, they each have a topic, and hate the topic of each of them... not to mention the fact that 1984 was so immensely depressing... that's another story though.

"depressing" isn't the right term in my opinion.. ..I'd call it more.. ..um.. .."provoking paranoia".. Big Brother is watching me.. ..I have always been paranoid, but this book only made it worse. Though, I really liked it. Together with Brave New World. bit complicated though, BNW..
