Yay, there is a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie in the works. CGI animation. Release date March 30th, 2007. And it seems like it will follow the story of the current 4Kids series. Trailer hereI've been a fan of TMNT for as long as I can remember, going back to the original cartoon in the 80s, and the original three movies. They rocked, but the third one was...meh.

Oh god, I've hated TMNT for as long as I can remember. I just remember something about weird cookies and it's just made me cringe ever since. It's one of those things that will get massive TV advertisements and annoy me so much.

Having not had a TV for thirteen years, I have to say that I have no idea what TMNT is about. I've heard of it, of course and I think when I was about 8 or 9, I saw part of an episode of the cartoon at my Nanny and Gramps's house but other than that, all I remember is them eating a lot of pizza (the TMNT, not my grandparents). It looks slightly ... daft. And I hate those sorts of voices that they do with animated movies when they try to make them funny - the klutzy one who fell in the big rubbish bin had an annoying voice.

The klutzy one who...that was Mikey, the practical joker in the group. Hm, yeah, the Turtles love pizza, although that was more played out in the original series. It's not been mentioned nearly as often in the new series.
I still haven't seen the trailer. I guess I'll try to let it load now...

Urgh.
Well, seeing as this section can also be for television series, I'll post my rant here.
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THE TURTLES, 4KIDS?? Okay, they had a perfect show going on with the Turtles cartoon that began in 2003. Amazing plot depth, character development, multi-episode story arcs that all fit in with an overall plot...and then they ended the fourth season on a cliffhanger. They had just begun the "Ninja Tribunal" story arc, and ended it with a season finale. I was looking forward to the fifth season, to see how the Ninja Tribunal story arc would unfold. Not to mention the fact that there were countless subplots already going on (the Guardians, for example). The show was amazing, and a fifth season would have been so great.
But what do I see when the fifth season starts? A new series. The animation is different, somewhat. The tone of the show is suddenly more light-hearted and humorous. Gone is the dark and suspenseful edge of the 2003 series. The fifth season began under a new name for the show: "TMNT: Fast Forward". The Turtles and Splinter have been transported to the year 2105. This new series is described as a "stand-alone" storyline, with nothing to do with the 2003 series. 26 episodes of Fast Forward have been announced. Eastman and Laird, the creators of the TMNT, have said that they had, in fact, come up with a story arc for the Ninja Tribunal, and had about five episodes completed already. The decision for those episodes, which many people are calling the "Lost Season", is that they will be made available on DVD, early next year. They'll never be televised.
I admit, I do like Fast Forward. It is more humorus, which reminds me of the old, 1987 series. But I want to know how the "actual" TMNT storyline unfolds!!!
*grumble*
</end rant>
I finally saw the trailer for the movie. It seems the voice actors for the movie are the same as for the series.
I was reading around on WIkipedia today, and it seems the 1987 series went by a slightly different name in England, when it aired. It was called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles. Why the change? There were so many censorship issues. "Ninjas" sounded too violent. Even the Turtles' weapons were changed. For example, Mikey fought with a grappling hook as opposed to nunchucks.

ahh.. I liked the show when I was growing up.. but I also didn't like it for the fact that I got teased about it.... everyone at school called me April O'Neil because of the character in TMNT. It wasn't negative teasing, just a silly thing to annoy me, I suppose.. but yeah lol I didn't like it for that reason. I loved the movies though! Michaelangelo is my favorite oh and I remember when we had our Nintendo... I loooooved playing the TMNT video game! I'd play it for hours... ;D

Yeah, the movies were great. Although I wasn't so crazy about the third one...the second TMNT film is my favorite. Man, my favorite TMNT game was the one for the SNES: TMNT IV: Turtles in Time. That game rocked on two-player mode.

I can't wait for TMNT. I love the Ninja Turtles. Lol. I saw the trailer on my Xbox 360 and it was short, but the trash bin part was funny. But, hey, it's Ninja Turtles, so of course I'm going to watch it. Like duh!
