Graaaaah. I ALWAYS do this! I always think I've made a FB thread before, then when I go back to all the other threads, I discover that I haven't. Ahhh ... deary me. Words cannot describe how angry and jealous I feel. One of my friends introduced me to Furuba about two and a half years ago, and even though I haven't watched or read any anime/manga since last summer, I still love Fruits Basket. I only have volume 10 of the manga, but that's because my friend always used to let me read hers, so I didn't need to buy them. Besides, 10 is one of the best Hatsuharu ones, and that's all I care about really. I luff him . I like Kureno too, though, and Hiro and Kisa are very sweet. Shigure is rather hilarious, but Yuki really needs to die. I can't stand him >_<. I've no idea where I am in the story. I was reading it online at one point, but I've so forgotten what's going on. I don't even know what the latest volume to be released is. And I hate the anime with a passion. It so screwed up the storyline and the characters look no way NEAR as good as they do in the manga ('cos there ain't no deeetail!). If you want to truly fall in love with FB, you have to read the manga. There's my advice to you.

Ah, I keep forgetting to lend out the volumes I have. Silly me, it helps just to read the volumes rather than reading online because then you don't forget where you are.
I've just ordered 17 because Forbidden Planet never seem to stock it and Borders have stopped stocking manga. I'm using Waterstones now to get some stuff but they are never up to date with Fruits Basket.
But yes, reading the manga is definately better than the anime. The style is a little bit shakey at the beginning but the art improves so much as the series goes on, you can find yourself just staring at the pages.

I finished reading this yesterday. It had the cutest ending. I really felt like hugging someone out of joy, but there was nobody around at like two in the morning. Gotta say though, I felt really sad (still do) that I had finished at the same time too. It's like, there's never going to be any more and ... yeah.

IMAGINE HOW I FELT WHEN I WENT TO SEE THE LAST STAR WARS FILM. I'd grown up with the series and suddenly the LAST ONE EVARâ„¢ was coming out and the entire time I watched it in the cinema, I thought I was dreaming because it didn't seem possible that there was suddenly no more. It was almost the same with HP: DH, but not quite so much.
Anyways, FB. Yes, the ending was very nice. I think I like what happened to Kyo/Tohru the most.

Yeah, that was sweet.
I also like the fact Akito finally changed too. It seemed like a totally happy ending for everyone, so that made me happy. Sad endings just make me ... well ... sad. >_>;

That's my only ... well, I wouldn't call it a complaint, but it was like NOTHING BAD HAPPENED EVAR because everyone ended up with who they loved. I guess it's sad still because of Kyoko and Katsuya's tragic tragic story which just breaks my heart, but still I was like "okay, I'm happy for everyone, and inside I'm warm and squeey, but is this realistic?" Then again, was I getting weird undertones, or did it turn out that Momiji did love Tohru? 'Cos I didn't read any of it for about a year and I'm sure I've forgotten a fair few things.

Actually, yes, I think he did end up loving her, so in that respect it is a sad ending for him. I don't remember anything nice happening for him at the end. Same for Kagura actually. I guess the happy part was just focused on more to give a happier ending.

How did it happen then, or at least, what were the clues? I just remember him very suddenly being more grown up and finally wearing the boys' uniform and being upset that he couldn't be with Tohru and I was like "wha--? O.o" As for Kagura ... yeah, it wasn't happy for her, but I never really was very keen on her, and really, she loved Kyo kind of for the wrong reasons.

It happened pretty much like you say. He got all sad he couldn't be with her and pretty much told Kyo to look after her ... or something to that effect, unless I perceived it wrongly. >_>;

I believe it's implied that she loved him for the wrong reasons at first but then actually fell for him. Yes Momiji did love Tohru and it was hinted at way back when they went on holiday.

Mm, I think I remember that scene, where Momiji stopped Kyo and briefly talked to him on the landing. It's aaaages since I read any of this O.o.
