Each book has the same main characters and settings, but, as the story progresses, new characters and settings (and, therefore, conflicts) are introduced. It's a single continuing, evolving storyline.

I've finally finished the first WoT book in a flurry of reading! Hooray! I've FINALLY finished something I should have finished in January. . I won't take this long for number two though.

Yayys! You finally finished! I'm about half way through The Shadow Rising and I'm really loving it so far. I'm really happy to see Faile and Perrin getting along again, too. ^_^

I'm really happy to see Faile and Perrin getting along again, too. ^_^ The Faile/Perrin relationship is adorably sweet at first, but it starts to get tedious ... for once, I feel for the man involved, because even I, as a woman, don't understand Faile a lot of the time. Talking of whom ... they haven't cropped up in my part of the story for a while ... Well, I read about another 10 pages of book 10 a week or two ago, which was the first time I've read any WoT since the beginning of September. I'm trying to make it last ... Oh, and I got my friend Frances into reading the series, too. She's with Perrin and Egwene, just after the meet Elyas, in EotW, currently, I believe, though she may have read more today, as she wasn't in school.

Faile is a strange one, I must admit... but she kind of seemed natural to me. It was only the first part where they were meeting that I really got to read, though.

Well, she's fine at first. But then she just starts to confuse me. I can't get my head around her.

Perhaps she's supposed to be that way. I've noticed myself get very confused at her, but that's hardly surprising.

Old thread needs new/old information. By new/old information I mean, I just found this out today, but this information was announced back in December of last year.
Author Brandon Sanderson has been chosen by Harriet McDougal, wife of the late Robert Jordan, to write A Memory of Light, the twelfth and concluding book of The Wheel of Time. Sanderson, best known for his Mistborn books, has been granted access to all of Jordan's written and audio notes, and everything Jordan had written for the final book. A Memory of Light is expected to be released around Fall of 2009.

Who did you think was going to be writing the book until now? Or did you think the project was dropped? Which would've been awful.

Goodness me, you didn't know? I've known for about six months, or thereabouts. Brandon's website provides an estimate of how far through the first draft he currently is, and as he gets further, he updates it. At the moment, he is 34% through it, working on a basis of - I think - 40,000 words equalling 1%.

Yeah, I honestly didn't know that until yesterday. I kept wondering if the final book would be written and if so, who would do the writing. Guess I'm a bit slow in finding some stuff out.

I went crazy reading this on holiday. I finished a fair few chapters of 'Winter's Heart' and finally found out who the Daughter of Nine Moons was. I can't wait to see what happens with Mat and her. And Tylin. xDD
