Yeah, the 's' is slightly extended, I think, so it sounds like a short hiss. yoh-ro-shik-ou on-neg-aye-she-mass (ssss ...) Yeah, I think that's how it is.

Well, the Japanese don't have an equivalent of 'l' in their 'alphabet', so that explains the substitution of an 'r' for an 'l'.

That, and the 'r' is pronounced like a combination of the two letters. It's kind of like Ж in Russian where there really is no English one-letter equivalent.
