What are your views? Are you religious? Well, I'm athiest. I don't believe in God or anything like that, but I believe somewhat in a "Heaven and Hell". I'm not sure about this, but I think something like this happens when you die: 'You go to a better place like "Heaven" or stay here, which you could call "Hell", but reincarnate.' Hell, it's all pretty confusing. I'm not sure if I even believe what I just wrote now. Basically, I don't think life ends when someone dies. Oh, on the subject of religion. Since I'm a fan of Bad Religon (a punk rock band), I was wearing a shirt of there's a few days ago when I was out. Apparently, this chav who saw it was gonna have a fight with him since he didn't think religions were bad and he was a religious person. That's his view. People who think religion is bad don't go around threatening religious people now, do they?

Meh, I'm atheist too. I'll say more on this later. We're studying the Philosophy of Religion in some of my Philosophy classes at the moment.

atheist too. I don't believe in heaven or hell either. I wouldn't say I believe in it but I quite like the idea of reincarnation. I don't think that life ends after death... I think there's like some other realm type thing... yeah... I don't know how to explain it. I'll try later

Atheist. I've given up most hope on religious foundations and common sense. I really am not a fan of religion at all. I don't care if people have them, I just don't see the sense in them.

I thought I was one of few Atheists. Didn't realize alot of people I know were Atheist aswell. I somewhat believe that we are born into a new body. (Of any living creature) I do not, however, believe in a God. Nor do I believe in a heaven or hell. Not much else to say. What I believe in is pretty simple to understand.

To be blunt, me and religion don't really mix. I could come out with some long winded post about why religion is pointless in this new day and age and how it just keeps bringing war and so on but i'm not. I will do later on , however. And Zephyr, there are many many Atheists around. o.0

Mmm, so far all of us here seem to be such. I'm pretty sure a majority of Atheists do believe in some kind of deity and higher power, but don't really see eye-to-eye with any particular relgion's views, or acts, and thus... aren't really religious. I know that's how it is for me, at least.

Hmmm thats the point. I would like to think there is some sort of higher power (I kind of thing of Luck) but when you think about it scientifically...
There is no evidence about to fully support a theory that there is any sort of higher being. We are just organisms and when we die, however a touchy subject it is, we die. We just cease to exist. And for some it seems they don't like that thought and would like to think that their lives have amounted to more than just that and then try deluding themselves with what are our purposes in life etc...

Sure, we just die, but what happens to our souls or whatever? What would we be if we didn't exist. I can't just believe that when we die, we die. There has to be something more, I just can't except anything else. Dying, and losing everything forever. It seems so depressing, so I hope there is something after death. Still, I have to agree with science on some parts, when the body dies, it dies, but science can't explain souls.

Again, what proof is there to say we have a soul? And if we do, does that mean animals have souls? They too are living, and where do they go when they die?
And what you said sounds like denial to me. Sure that is life. Depressing. We are born, go toe to toe with life for a bit and then we die. meh, I just accept it. So thats why you gotta make the most out of life and trying and fulfill your own purpose and just enjoy it really.
And as for a soul... What if it just doesn't exist. Where did the idea of souls come from? Seems to be its come from religion but correct me if I am wrong. So far religion has proved its self to be useful so I see no further reason to believe souls exist.

Yes, I am in denial. I deny that we just die. I can't bare to just die. Sorry, but that's just the way I am. Ghosts may prove answers though. What are they? Oh, and I have seen one before, so I'm know they exist (and I'm not going insane ... I think. )

*sigh* Ghosts? Seriously. I once believed in them but again... Any REAL evidence they do fully exist? We humans are gifted with imaginations which tend to run wild at times. So... Ghosts fall in the same category as souls really. They're nothing really. You see what I am seeing is that because you are denying how simple death is you begin creating obstacles or things that might make it look like there is a form of life after death therefore making it believable.

I can understand where you're coming from and it makes perfect sense, but this is a debate that can never really be proven. Sure, there is no proof of life after death, but is there any proof to there not being? No one knows.

...That was precisely my comeback if someone argued the point of there being a higher being or a life after death. XD That is true but ask yourself this. We human beings are a curious race aren't we? Wouldn't we at least do something to try and contact our previous world?
Think about it. If what you're saying is true, and that there is an after life then surely.. .Say... Someone who died in a terrorist attack and was so upset that they never got to say goodbye to their loved ones, friends etc... Wouldn't they do everything they could to try and find a way to contact the previous world?
Think about what we've achieved in real life, surely we'd be able to achieve something like that in the after life?
