Yeah, I wasn't expecting Rose until much later either. I also noticed that bit of dialogue about the bees. In the full season trailer, I remember seeing a giant bee (well, it looked more like a wasp, but maybe it was a bee) with its stinger stretched out, chasing people (don't remember who) down a corridor. No doubt that's related.

No doubt that's related. An episode later on in the series is called The Unicorn and the Wasp. All I know about it is that that's the Agatha Christie episode. That's what that is from.

Great, all I can say is that we've gone from Bad Wolf to bees.
I still find Donna irratating. Her introduction was her standing there in a wedding dress and yelling for about 5 minutes so you can't blame me.
The adipose...I'm not sure what I'm supposed to think but they are just about the least threatening thing in existance.

The adipose...I'm not sure what I'm supposed to think but they are just about the least threatening thing in existance. A lot of people are theorizing that the Adipose are the baby form of Sontarans. They have a similar body structure, for starters. The Doctor let the Adipose live, and if the Adipose really do turn out to be Sontarans....That would explain the new attack force that invades Earth in an upcoming two-parter. Maybe.

Wait a minute, I think I remember these guys from that episode of SJ Adventures. And I saw about 5 minutes of an old episode with them in.

The Adipose weren't mean to be threatening as such. I mean, they were harmless babies, so they weren't intentionally causing harm, but the way that they were created was what endangered the humans. And the fact that their Royal Family clearly had no regard for the lives of others, as long as all their little babies were born. So their births were what threatened the humans, but what they got up to after that was unimportant.

Anyway, the latest episode was quite good, although slightly overdramatic. One thing that I must point out is that when a women wears a toga, it means she's a prostitute. Just something Rosie was nice enough to inform me of a while back.
Also, the water pistol was cool.

The water pistol was cool.
Two bits of continuity that I noticed, in the scene about 14 minutes into the episode (the argument over prophecies). First, Lucius tells the Doctor that "she is coming". This probably refers to Rose Tyler. Second, he told Donna, "there's something on your back", but I'm not sure what that means.

Just something Rosie was nice enough to inform me of a while back. Also, the water pistol was cool. I'm glad you liked it. I thought you were going to criticise the Bionicle stone aliens, or something. As for it being over-dramatic; I think it's one of those things where you really have to be there to feel how terrifying and dangerous it is. I think it helps that I've been to Pompeii and climbed Mount Vesuvius and seen the damage that was caused, and the state the inhabitants were left in; when I saw that cloud of ash swarming over the town, I felt really vulnerable. As for the water pistol; yes it was cool, but WTF?! I think the Doctor has finally learnt from Jack how much it helps to be equipped in all situations; I noticed he also had a nifty eyeglass handy, for looking across long distances. Usually, he only ever seems to have his sonic screwdriver. Well, and the 3D glasses xD. The water pistol was cool. Yeah, I thought the prophecy was refering to Rose. Also, for the thing on Donna's back, I have a sneaking suspicion that they might mean a knife (obviously not being totally literal here).
Well yes, the aliens were a little strange but Donna was far more likable in that episode.

What, the Doctor learned from Captain Jack...?
Clearly you've never seen any serials from the Tom Baker era! The Doctor always has a plethora of random objects in his pockets! I remember on Genesis of the Daleks, when the Doctor was asked to empty his pockets, the pile of objects included an apple, string, and a yoyo, among many other things.

I haven't seen that but I've got the scripts for that series, that made me laugh. I believe he uses a teaspoon at some point (guessing this because I have a book about the science in Doctor Who).

He probably does. The Doctor was always known for using mundane objects for the most bizarre reason. Reminds me of a bit of dialogue between the Doctor and Leela at the beginning of The Robots of Death. Leela is playing with a yo-yo, while the Doctor is going over the TARDIS controls. The Doctor referred to the yo-yo as a "gravitational constant detector".

Clearly you've never seen any serials from the Tom Baker era! A few, but many years ago, so I don't remember a whole lot of it. And the fact that they've barely shown him getting out mundane objects in these new seasons only justifies my not realising that.

Epic Sontaran 2-parter was epic. I also loved Rose's cameo in part two.
The Sontarans were excellent in this story, and I liked having Martha back.
